Three sisters have a legacy, but it is not jewels or other such valuables. It is the gift to slay vampires. However, one of them might turn into a vampire herself. The oldest triplet, Megan, is safe from that possibility, since she is the Daughter of Lilith who has the main gift of slaying. Conventional wisdom says that it is Kat who received the Vampire Queen's kiss and will turn.

That destiny has wrecked Kat's life, making her a borderline lush and very anti-social. Her relationships tend to be shallow and the only people who seek her out are vampires who want her for their queen. That changes when a determined vampire bounty hunter comes after her, set on killing her. Not only does Kat not want to be either a vampire or dead, but she is attracted to the man who thinks she is a vampire and should be dead.

Talk about a problematic relationship! They can agree on one thing, the vamp who originated what will be Kat's line if she turns, needs to die. Yet, as the pull toward the dark side increases, who will win?

Though Kat is often a most unlikeable heroine, this is a fascinating read. It is filled with red herrings and surprises that you won't see coming, even if you've read so many vamp romances you think you know the formula. I definitely want to read more.

Synopsis
The Crosse triplets have had a hell of a year. To their shock, their grandfather Darkheart revealed that the sisters hail from a long line of vampire slayers. According to legend, one of them is the new slayer. One can heal vampires. And one will turn into a blood-sucking vamp.

Professional vampire-hunter Jack Rawls believes sexy, cocktail-loving Kat is the vamp-to-be. Desperate not to turn fang, Kat enlists the wary Jack to help her find Maplesburg's "vamp zero", Cyrus Kane. With Kane dead--permanently--she might be able to stop the prophecy in its tracks. But Kat hadn't counted on her growing feelings for Jack, or the charisma and true evil of Kane...
