Kim Vaughn does not care for the word destiny at all, because for her, it means taking up the family duty and being a demon killer. She just wants a normal life, but still, she finds herself, armed with Fo, the demon detecting, glorified cell phone, heading to the Castle of Dark Dreams. Ostensibly, she will be redecorating, but actually, she's supposed to off any demons Fo detects. The only problem is, Fo screams that everyone and their cat is a demon. It also happens that she's right, to an extent. She is detecting all sorts of paranormal beings; vampires, immortals, agents of ancient deities, cosmic troublemakers, and whatever Brynn McNair is. For five hundred years, he has been trapped under a spell that compels him to be a slave to whatever any woman he's around more than an hour wants. He might be a demon, but Kim has no interest in slaying him, and she's the first woman he has wanted for her own sake in centuries. The compulsion and a demon war might get in the way though. On the plus side, Sparkle Stardust and Ganymede are there to help with both problems. This is a delightful comedy. Sparkle gives new meaning to the term catfight when she fights for her "man", and Fo is priceless. If you need a laugh, you need this book. |
