The Kitchen Witch is a wonderfully fun, sexy Paranormal Chick Lit. When gorgeous Logan Kilgarven moves back to Salem to raise his young son Shane, who was abandoned by his mother, he has no idea the woman he lives above is a sexy witch named Melody Seabright, but when he finds himself in a jam and needs a babysitter so he can go into work where he's a producer at the TV station WTCH, he breaks down and knocks on Melody's door. He is totally surprised to be greeted by a sexy vision in full witchy getup on her way to a job interview. He persuades her to baby-sit in exchange for a job interview at the station. When Melody presents herself to the station manager and has a full proposal for a cooking Show, Logan is silently appalled, having sampled some of Melody's cooking when he picked up Shane. Melody is full of life, and radiates sex appeal, but she can't cook period. Of course the lecherous station manager only sees Melody's appeal and hires her. Logan soon realizes that Melody is not just a bimbo and she has a heart as well as a brain as she negotiates a space for Shane in the building's daycare centre, something that had been denied Logan. There are some hilarious events on the set and delightful repartee between Melody and Logan as things heat up. The biggest question is whether Logan and Melody can put their painful histories behind them and reach out to each other. This is a terrific, funny, sweet, sexy read, a classic chick lit paranormal romance in the very best sense. It won't appeal to SF readers or those who like detailed fantasy, but it is a very good, humorous way to spend a lazy afternoon and escape to a magical place with a bit of romance and magic. I found it a great read, and couldn't help but giggle at several of the Kitchen Witch's antics, so get a cup of tea, and a comfy chair and just enjoy a great story. |
