Blackwind: Viraiden and Bronwyn is the powerful sequel to Blackwind: Sean and Bronwyn and a truly excellent novel of the enduring love of soul mates, and their stubborn refusal to allow even paranormal forces to dictate life choices or them apart. In the ensuing years since Ireland, Bronwyn has gone on to get her doctorate and is about to start her new job at Wynth, one of the highest security facilities in the world, where her father had worked prior to his death. It is here she will meet the enigmatic Viraiden, Captain of the Security, the first man to stir any kind of response in Bronwyn since Sean's death and discover truths about the sacrifice Sean made resulting in his death and about the existence of the Reapers. Viraiden is one of the first of Reapers found on Earth and as Captain of the elite Security Guards at Wynth, he commands great fear and respect, but his past has returned to haunt him and he will have to battle memories from past and present to overcome this returning evil. Once again, there will be outside forces at work against Viraiden and Bronwyn. The Nightwind Danyon, and Amazeen Ski'Ah will join forces to keep them apart, but this time, neither are children any longer, and Bronwyn will make a discovery that will shake their worlds. This is classic Charlotte Boyett-Compo Dark Fantasy in all its glory, a gripping, gut wrenching pair of books that will stay with you long after the final page has been turned. A novel not to be missed as the wonderful conclusion to Bronwyn's story and definitely a resident on my keeper shelf. |
