Captain Leski Helios can not believe this situation he is in. He, one of the most powerful warriors in the land, has been captured and is now being used in the most ignoble way by his female captors. When Kynthia returns home after being gone for some time to find Leski bound spread-eagled to a bed, she cannot abide by such treatment and frees him but in his flight he takes her formidable stallion and she vows to retrieve her stallion whatever the cost. Years previously, Kynthia had been violated in the worst way and she avenges herself by crushing the head of her violator with a rock. In her subsequent unmarriageable state she is dowered to the reclusive owner of a nearby island. When that recluse turns out to be Cainer Cree, the Reaper, he gives the Kynthi the means to avenge others like herself and to never be used by another man by becoming a reaper herself. Leski can not get the beautiful Kynthia out of his mind and during a discussion with an old friend, confesses his desire to woo and wed the woman whose stallion he rode in on. When Kynthia, who has been hiding in the shadows waiting for an opportunity to retrieve her horse, overhears Leski's declaration, something starts to melt inside her. She recalls Cree's prophecy about a man who will melt her heart and knows she has found her mate. Kynthia can not know that treachery will lead to Leski and Krull capture and subsequent torture by a sadist without equal and the measures she will have to go to find and free her love. A Windverse novel full of dark deeds and the abiding love and trust shared between those fated to be together. The tantalizing and toasty love scenes and offset by some of the darker aspects of inhumanity making this another riveting read in the Windverse of the Reapers. |
