WindSeeker is book 2 in the Windlegends Saga and picks up exacly where book 1 left off. Conar and Liza are happily, blissfully married and enjoying all the usual "pastimes" of a newly married couple (frequently!!!). One night a mysterious woman visits Liza and warns her that Conar's love will be tested and that he will not always be hers. Soon after Liza is kidnapped by Conar's brother, Galen, and Conar is forced to revisit some childhood traumas in an attempt to save his wife. Within WindSeeker, Charlotte Boyett-Compo gives us a greater insight into the horrific experiences that Conar was subjected to at the hands of Kaileel Tohre and Tolkan Coure at the monastery as a child. Charlotte manages to outline the torture with enough description to leave the reader in no doubt as to the exact nature of the events without resorting to unnecessary levels of detail. The acts performed are of a particularly degrading nature that could upset some readers. This is truly a fantasy story for grown-ups! |
