This book is widely regarded as a classic of science fiction. I have read some books that have been tagged in a similar way only to very disappointed with what I considered an average book. This one was, thankfully, a very entertaining read. If you are unaware of the plot, it can be roughly summed up as follows. In a possible future books have been outlawed. The job of the fireman now is to find and destroy books by burning, hence the title of the book. The particular fireman we follow picks up a book and reads.

I often find myself a little put off books or films with hype attached as I tend to find this gives me preconceived ideas, but even if you are like me in that respect I would still get hold of a copy of this book and read it.
