It's another term at Spy High and the teams are competing for the prestigious Sherlock Shield, a prize awarded to the team that performs the best over a series of tasks. Once again Bond Team find themselves in direct competition with Solo Team. The competition is close and it will come down to the final event. But to what depths will Simon, the leader of Solo Team, go to defeat Bond Team and take the shield?

During the competition there is an apparent CHAOS attack on the Domes, an enclosed rural community and the home of one of the Bond team members, Jake. Concerned as to the fate of his family, Jake returns to the dome to see if they survived and to investigate the cause of the attack. Taking some of the members of Bond Team they find themselves once again under attack by the forces of CHAOS.

This is another novel in the Spy High series and once again we find the world being threatened by CHAOS and, of course, the authorities turn to a group of teenagers to save the day. Unlike the first volume, in The Chaos Connection Bond Team are not concerned with their ability to work together as a team. This time they have to deal with personal tragedy and coming to terms with their very different team roles.

Along side all of this we have the leader of their archrivals trying to gain the trust of one of the team members with the aim of obtaining inside information in order to win the Sherlock Shield.

Yet again this is a bit of entertaining escapism. The main characters have to defeat the "big-bad" whilst trying to survive the trials and tribulations of teenage life. Sometimes you need to read a book or watch a film for pure entertainment. You don't always want to read or watch something for a great moral purpose. There is nothing wrong with giving in to a bit of throwaway pleasure now and again!

This series of novels are harmless fun and make a refreshing change. They will always have a place on my bookshelf.
