This is a change of pace and setting from Ender's Game. Ender Wiggin the Xenocide has moved on in his life and become the Speaker for the Dead, a man who travels to planets and speaks the truth of people who've died.

He is called to the planet home to the second non-human intelligence found. Following the events in the first book, intial contact has been made with these creatures (the Piggies) in a much more carfeul restrained manner. However this did not prevent the deaths of men studying these Piggies killed in a ritualistic manner. Ender is called to speak of these men.

This is a very well plotted, extremely character-rich book. I have always enjoyed this man's writing style and this book thankfully proved more of the same. Read it sometime (but read Ender's Game first!)
