After seeing how Hades has flourished thanks to the addition of the mortal woman, Lina, to his "life", Zeus decides that the rest of the immortal beings worshipped by the ancients as gods would benefit from some time around mortals as well. What better place than Vegas? Among the first to enter the Kingdom of Vegas are the twins, Artemis and Apollo, under the names Phoebus and Diana. Apollo quickly meets a mortal who has become bound to his sister through an accidental magical wish for love. Pamela has no idea what her random words did, but until she and Apollo fall in love, all the way as it were, Artemis will get her overflow emotions. Therefore, the goddess is determined to make sure they fall for each other. After they do, the problems only increase as mortal and immortal try to make life work. Yet, all that stands between them and pain is one second. Though not as much fun as some of the prior goddess books, this is a light hearted escape from reality with a bittersweet quality to balance it out. Artemis and Apollo are strongly reminescent of Maeve and Aidan from Linda L. Miller's classic vampire novels, showing how strong the bonds of love can be. |
