Jeanette Cottrell teaches computer science at a public high school in Oregon. She's married, with three children who claim to be grown up, but she has her doubts. The Shadebinder's Oath is her fourth book.

Her cat fails to understand why she devotes so much attention to her laptop computer. Fortunately, he has discovered that he can sleep on her shoulders while she's typing. Apart from an occasional tail in the mouth, it works out. It's nice to be loved.
