In Santa Claus, a beautiful charity bell ringer finds herself swept off her feet by a charming werewolf who sees past the things that make her feel less than lovely. In fact, they are so giddily happy that by the time the second story in this anthology comes along, Monster Love, werewolf Janet Lupo dreads being around so much sweetness. This leaves her vulnerable to being kidnapped by vampire Richard Will, much to her ire and dismay. However, they do realize they are perfect for each other, even without a dog named Spot, and so when a very unusual woman, Cresent Muhn, wants to claim that "There's No Such Thing as a Werewolf" when she meets blind were, Drake Dragon, Richard and Janet can help disabuse her of the notion. Finally, vampire Queen Betsy opens her home to Antonia to help cure George the Fiend. No, she doesn't have to let her stepmonster in; just another werewolf, one who can't change, but does have visions. Ms. Davidson is among the royals of paranormal romantic comedy. The best story in the bunch is the last, a Fiend in Need, but I like her vampire series the best of all her books, so perhaps I'm prejuidiced. In any case, all four are tremendous fun, in a light way. |
