After months of planning, it is almost time for the Vampire Queen, Betsy Taylor, to marry her king, Sinclair. Unfortunately, the wedding is really the least of her concerns these days. First, her father and step-mother have been killed, leaving her the guardian of her baby brother. Secondly, her best friend is not faring well in her chemo treatments. Third, pretty much everyone else has disappeared, from her resident werewolf and fiend to the groom-to-be. Things just keep going from bad to worse and Bety just knows something is badly wrong. Does she dare risk opening the Book of the Dead for a clue?

As always, a peek into Betsy's "unlife" is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. Emotions range from tense and terrifying, to laugh out loud humor, to profoundly moving, to warm and fuzzy. This is perhaps the most layered of the books in the series and the best. I hope Bety's reign is long and we get to continue experiencing it.
