War has decimated the world. In the centre of the chaos an Amethyst tower emerges and with it comes a mass of paranormal activity and a new realm. Through all of this Noetic and his estranged lover Ontic strive to overcome the evil that lurks within. It is these two main characters who have been gifted with the blessing and the burden of being the Mystery and the Miracle. Along with their various companions, Noetic and Ontic discover that this new land poses a great threat to the real world and realise that they must travel through a kind of glass gateway, the Wistrix Donn, into the new land to defeat the evil and save the world. Wistrix Donn is truly an epic fantasy tale. Complex and involved it follows the lives of Noetic and Ontic as they struggle to save the world – but will this involve the sacrifice of their relationship? This is an intense story and certainly isn’t a book that I found easy to read. Usually a book of this size takes just a few days to read but in the case of Wistrix Donn it took a number of weeks as the detailed storyline and wide cast of characters made it quite a challenge. The pace of the story is reasonably steady. It does not drag you through the pages kicking and screaming, Nor does it sit back and take things easy. It is an intense compelling novel that commands you attention throughout. If your idea of a good book is something that you can pick up and put down at the drop of a hat then this is not one for you. If you start to read be prepared to invest a reasonable amount of your reading life it to it. Enjoyable and worth all the hard work! |
