The love of a woman is a Carpathian male's only hope of avoiding a living death past the age of two hundred. Unless his soulmate is found and they unite, he will become a vampire. As time passes, more and more of the Carpathian males are on the edge of becoming the thing they hunt and kill. What would happen if a soulmate was found who was already taken in a sense? This is the dilema faced by Nicholae when he at last finds his, appropriately named Destiny. Her blood has already been tainted by a vampire, one who killed her family long ago. They must save each other this time, or else three lives might be lost to darkness. This perhaps is the most complex of the Dark series, with deep psychological insights allegorized to an extent. If you think that all that can be done with this series has been done, then you are mistaken, as this book proves. Hopefully, we will soon see Nicholae's brother star in his own book. |
