Since Mind Game, the Ghostwalkers have teamed with Lily, Dr. Whitney's "daughter", or more accurately one of the girls who survived the experiments done on her, her sisters, and the men who are the Ghostwalkers, to rescue the other girls. In Shadow Game, Dahlia was rescued. Now, it's Iris, aka, Flame's, turn.

Of the three girls, she might be the biggest challenge. Flame has no love for Lily, the favored child, and feels betrayed. Her desire for revenge combined with her psionic abilities makes her deadly, therefore only the best can go after her, and that means Raoul "Gator" Fontenot. Like Flame, he has talents ordinary people do not. Time is not on Gator's side; someone else is after Flame, and there is a chance that a timebomb is ticking inside of the young woman.

She was given cancer and cured of it multiple times as a child, and there is a good chance it will come back, but there will be no one to stop the disease unless he finds her before it does. Once he finds her, making her trust him is the next mountain to overcome, and possibly the hardest. Gator has been betrayed, so he can empathize.

The two are matched in pain and paranormal gifts, but it will be their hearts, not minds, that give them strength to survive.

Ms. Feehan's own gifts are clearly displayed here. Night Game boasts a cast of characters that is quirky and intriguing, but is action packed enough to satisfy the less romantic reader. This story manages to both be imaginative, yet grounded in reality, making it seem plausible.
