The complete screenplay of the soon to be released Mirror/Mask is presented in a stunning volume that combines illustrations and photos with the text that matches each drawing. Though not a conventional novel, it does give readers a sense of the story that traces young Helena's journey in a land of dreams and nightmares as she seeks to restore balance.

By so doing, she will save a magical land that is slowly dying as their queen lies in a coma, and perhaps save her own mother who is undergoing an operation. Like the Wizard of Oz, people and events in the dreamland mirror those in the real world. Though for months, those waiting for the movie's release have compared it to Labyrinth, they would find more commonality with the aforementioned Oz or C.S. Lewis's the Magician's Nephew.

In fact, in the opening pages, Mr. Gaiman states he tried to avoid any similtude to Labyrinth. While that may disappoint people who were hoping to get another look at the Goblin King, those who want to explore a magical world with psychological depths and hidden profoundness will be pleased.
