The saying goes that if it's not one thing, it's two, and Sookie Stackhouse can certainly sympathize with that statement. Not only does she have to deal with not one, but three weddings, but she also has to go to New Orleans for a vampire summit where she will be all too close to two of her former lovers. At least her current boyfriend, Quinn the weretiger, will be there as well, providing both support and added tension. Of course, Sookie's romantic woes are not the main thing going on; vampire politics are always complicated as only people who live centuries can make them. When hostile forces work to sabotage the meeting and turn it into a funeral, Sookie has a mystery on her hands and she is the only one who can stop a new catastrophe from devasting the tragic city.

I've said before and will continue to say that Charlaine Harris' talent is a marvelous thing. She has "humanized" the paranormal beings who popluate her books, skillfully fusing suspense and humor to give her readers a fantastic read every time. Both new and old characters continue to charm us as they develop. Reading just one of the books will addict you.
