The Drigon's Fall is an entertaining tale set in the far future on a mission to research a planet for teraforming.. Captain Dawson Lang is coming up on the end of his four year term of service in the Interplanetary Alliance and he is looking forward to life out of the military but why then did he have to be saddled with a new doctor on this last trip and a female at that? Dr Meredith Carson is on her first trip into outer space and as much as she wanted to travel, this is not quite what she had in mind and why oh why did Captain Lang have to be the stuff wet dreams were made of, especially since he didn't want to know she was even on board. Lang is having an equally difficult time with Meredith, she's in his thoughts constantly, she even invades his dreams and when he decides to create a holo-program in Meredith's image to take the edge off and hopefully put her out of his mind, she inadvertently taps into the program from her own holo shades. When Lang realizes that she has tapped into his program, he turns the tables on her and her erotic fantasy becomes reality. While the interaction between the Captain and the Doctor is electric things are starting to take a worrisome turn on the planet they are researching, and when the hull is breached they are forced to crash land on the inhospitable and uninhabited planet they have been researching. With only a few of the crew surviving the crash, survival becomes their first priority. What they don't expect is the ravaging monster that shares the planet with them. How did the monster avoid detection on their sensors? Is it native? Will help arrive before it has brutally killed everyone? Or can the remaining crew kill this thing before it kills them? I quite enjoyed the story, the author has an excellent imagination and though I felt it would have benefited from some further editing I look forward to reading future works from this imaginative author. |
