One day in October Lara decided that she wasn't in the mood for work and asked Brian to tell her a story. The saga of the turtle knight is the result of that request.

Princess Lara is bored. OK, so she is married to her prince but they seem to spend less and less time together. So, when a dashing young knight arrives, riding a turtle, one-day and offers to tell her a story she immediately accepts. The knight then proceeds to tell her a story of ill-fated love between a young queen and a lowly knight.

Soon the turtle knight begins to fall in love with the young princess. However, when her husband challenges her about her relationship with the knight she denies everything and the knight is cast into the dungeons. There he reflects upon his life and his unrequited loves.

This is a wonderful little story. They whole book took under 2 hours to read and was positively enchanting. The whole tale is made all the more appealing by some of the peripheral detail. The idea of the prince surfing the Internet for porn or the turtle playing Scrabble with the princesses cat definitely made me smile and gave the whole tale a slightly surreal feeling.

All in all this is a bittersweet story that, for once, does not have a happy ending (despite its fairytale feeling).

This is a perfect coffee-break book. Enchanting and completely riveting.
