Dante Raintree cannot help but notice the woman who's making a killing in his casino. He knows she has to be cheating via psi-talent, but he also knows she is not a Raintree. That means she's either an Ansari or a stray talent. Whichever it is, she's costing him money and neither can be allowed to roam freely. Then, the casino, the Inferno, goes up in flames, making it imperative to find out which of the two Lorna is. If she's one of the enemy, no matter how she attracts Dante, she will have to die. If not, he's not sure exactly what the future will hold. Meanwhile, the Ansari have noticed Lorna and that their attempt to kill Dante failed. As far as they are concerned, both have to die now.

Though it is not clear in what direction this story is heading, Ms. Howard has made a fantastic start to this saga. I've always especially admired her paranormal works as well as her romantic suspense. The two combined makes for a witty adventure filled with sparkling, crackling dialog and strong characters.
