Paul Kane's Website
Paul Kane was born in Chesterfield, England, in 1973. A classically-trained artist
and photographer, whose work has been exhibited around Europe, he began his professional
writing career providing articles and reviews for news-stand magazines in 1996 - after gaining
a BA (Hons) in History of Art, Design and Film from Sheffield Hallam University. Since turning his
hand to fiction in 1998, he has had pieces published in magazines such as Strix, Planet Prozak,
The Dream Zone, Tales of the Grotesque and Arabesque, Dead Things, Penny Dreadful, Sci-Fright,
Enigmatic Tales and Hidden Corners.
In 1999 he came second in the Black Hill Books horror story competition with 'Blackout' and
recent acceptances include stories for anthologies featuring names like Ramsey Campbell,
Tim Lebbon and Simon Clark. His first collection, Alone (In the Dark), was published by BJM in December 2000
and gained notable reviews and comments from, amongst others, SFX and Writers' News. Paul has just
finished a part-time MA course and currently serves as co-editor, main reviewer/interviewer and
regular columnist at the Terror Tales Online website,
where he also has his own messageboard.
