Channon MacRea's life's work has been focused on studying the Dragon Tapestry. One day, as she contemplates it, a handsome stranger makes a facetious comment that gets her attention, and when she looks at Sebastian, the tapestry becomes of secondary importance. Instant attraction sweeps her along a path that results in her being claimed as Sebastian's destined mate, his one chance in all eternity to find love, if she will accept.

Sebastian is not an ordinary man, but a lycanthrope, the grandson of an ancient king whose scions are cursed or blessed to be half animal, half human in their hearts. His powers are used to fight a war with the more bestial of his kin; that makes him, and now Channon a target.

There is a lot of story compacted into this small book. In fact, it would be a delight if at some point a longer version, getting into the complex history Sebastian touches upon, is issued. Time travel, were-beings, and an almost fey like quality make this an intriguing, albeit too brief read.
