After accidentally stabbing the Dark Hunter Valerius, Tabitha Deveraux feels that she must take care of him despite the fact that his grandfather crucified her brother-in-law centuries ago, and Valerius is the spitting image of his grandfather, and Kyrian loathes him. Beyond her feeling of duty, she is terribly attracted to Valerius, even though he is rather stuck up. All grudges will have to be put aside when an evil force the entire Dark Hunter family thought defeated starts to arise once more. This time, the Destroyer wants to take control of Tabitha's niece, and it has enough power to even hurt Acheron if he gets in the way. Most of the books in the series stand alone, but this one has enough ties to the other books that you really need to have the history from the prior volumes. If you do, then this is one of the most moving and exciting books yet. However, Tabitha and Simi provide humor to keep things from getting too dark. We also find out a bit more about who or what Acheron is. The ending is a little bit on the sappy, happily ever after side. For some, if not most, of us, that's a good thing. |
