The second in the new Sterling Files series is a story of an unusual individual who falls heavily into the nature of the old film noir characters, complete with dark hat to hide his features. He really is a pretty cool character. Johnny Vicious, Vigilante, as his business cards state, is often heard of but never seen well enough to describe, and John Spada, a policeman, would really like to crack the mystery of who this Vicious is.

When Vicious saves Enya Merritt from a bunch of assassins' he is surprised by his visceral reaction to Enya and promises her he will make sure she is kept safe. Enya is running from killers hired by the Siren Corp, the company she worked for as a computer geek prior to blowing the whistle on their nefarious dealings, and they want her dead before she can testify against them. Enya is still pondering the speed at which Vicious was able to move, avoiding all the bullets shot at them, when she is inundated with police and FBI protection.

John Spada is part of the police contingent sent to protect her, but at shift change, she is again attacked, and only John Spada's timely appearance saves her from death. Spada is every bit as hunky, though not quite as mysterious as Vicious, and he has made it his personal mission to keep Enya safe.

It would seem that both Spada and Vicious are attracted to the lovely Enya, and she in turn is attracted to both of them. It would be noteworthy for her to be attracted to one guy, let alone two, and she begins to note disturbing things.

Can Spada keep her safe from the killers, or will it be Vicious who saves the day, and just who and what is Ryan Murdock and a government project called Sterling? He says he knows Vicious, but can he be trusted?

This is a short but rollicking sexy story told in the spicy style, with the paranormally gifted characters Sheri King is so good at, a terrific second to an interesting contemporary paranormal suspense series

Synopsis
People are not always what they seem. This old adage is especially true of vigilante superhero Johnny Vicious.

After saving Enya from a couple of assassins, Johnny and Enya know an immediate and tense attraction. But a beat cop, John Spada, has come between the two star-crossed lovers. And now Enya must choose between sane, sensible John or wild and untamed Vicious.
