After forty years of restricted magic and being a familiar, it is time for Endora to have her freedom restored. However, before she and the man who was falsely charged along with her - Marcus - can have their powers back, they must defeat an evil warlock who basically wants to rule the world by any means he can.

Before Endora can go find Marcus and inform him of their mission, she has to make a stop and get Cassie (from Some Practical Magic) and her mother, Medusa, to cast an anti-love spell on her. Otherwise, all she'll care about from the moment she sees Marcus is resuming the affair they were forced to end by those who convicted them. With that done, she finds Marcus and is able to keep her head while telling him they have only days to stop their enemy or everything goes to Hades.

To do this, they will not only have to work together, but they'll need the best allies they can find- a dyslexic vampire and a pacificist pit bull. They'll also have to learn to trust each other again.

Though not quite as comical as Some Practical Magic, That Old Black Magic is funny where it needs to be. Though Endora was a charming secondary character, she works even better as a heroine in her own right. Marcus' two helpers, Mav and Glenna the Pit Bull are delightful. Even if you haven't read book one, you can thoroughly enjoy this volume.

Synopsis
The summons...

When Endora Bast is asked for help by the very witches' Tribunal that reduced her magic to almost nothing, she wonders why she should worry about their problem. Forty years before, they had punished her harshly for a transgression of the heart. Now, they desperately need her to save the entire witch community.

The challenge...

Endora is in for a shock when she's told she must stop her old nemesis, Obsidian Ashmedai, before he regains his full magical powers. If she does, she'll regain all of her magic and have her record expunged. If she doesn't, Ashmedai will become the most powerful witch in the world.

The problem...

Only one other witch can help Endora defeat Ashmedai. Marcus Morion, her former lover and cosmic twin, was punished by the Tribunal for the same transgression Endora made. On Tribunal orders, Endora and Marcus have been separated for forty years. Now, without benefit of full magical powers, they must cooperate to defeat Ashmedai. Failure will cost them their lives and subject all witchkind to Ashmedai's evil rule.

But can Endora and Marcus overcome forty years of doubt about a prematurely severed relationship and cooperate for the greater good, or will the passion they once felt for each other interfere with their mission to save the world?
