Though previously released as single sizzling short novels, Marianne LaCroix has done herself proud by uniting and expanding the shorter stories into a single long volume that follows the lives of four denizens of the night, Alonso, Lucius, Leonardo and Raife in pursuit of their respective life mates.

By compiling the stories together in one novel, the reader gets an expanded view of the characters and their interactions with their fellow vamps. It also enables us to follow the changes that both vamp and mate undergo to be together, complete with all the resultant passion as well as the developing relationships with the other formerly solitary vamps. The discovery of their lifemates in New Orleans and the threat from an ancient evil wantonly killing innocents and endangering the paranormal community gives a nice continuity to the story line and unites not just the lifemates but also the paranormals as a fighting force to save their way of life from adverse scrutiny.

The newly found mates run the gamut, witch, slayer, lycanthrope and psychic and each will have to choose between their current life or life with the sexy man of their dreams, hmm some choice. A light entertaining read, these tales enjoy sensuality and heat as well as interesting characters of the paranormal variety. I was thrilled to see these stories released together as a single volume and I am hoping that Ms LaCroix will do the same with a subsequent novel that covers the lives of the other interesting Vamps/ Paranormals introduced during the tale and allows us to visit with old friends and new ones in the next novel.

Synopsis
Four New Orleans vampires, each searching for their destined life-mate...

Alonso answers the mental call of Jolie, a fortune teller and psychic, when she is threatened by another vampire. He must bond with her and make her his before the dangerous demoni scuri forces her to his will.

Lucius longs for a woman to match his animalistic needs, one who could tame the beast he has become over the centuries. One night, he finds her roaming the Louisiana bayou, but Tala is of an ancient race. And perhaps more animalistic than he...

Leonardo is drawn to the dark alleys of New Orleans by the call of a dying comrade, only to come face to face with his life-mate, Erin—a vampire slayer. They must find common ground before lust—and love—can rule their nights.

Raife is beckoned by a witch's spell, an entreaty to love and pleasure. He is helpless to resist. Soon, he will find that the magic of Yvette, a French Creole witch, holds more in store for him than one night of sensual bliss.
