Inspired as a youngster by special effects wizard Ray Harryhausen, Joseph Laudati embarked on a hobby of stop-motion photography that expanded into a career in model animation and special effects. His lifelong fascination with the technique, combined with explorations into the occult, led to the writing of Demon Shadow, his first novel. An accomplished sculptor, Laudati also works as a prototype artist, and has created the master patterns for many action figures, toys, and collectible model kits. His animation work has been seen in film and television, and his writing published in Amazing Figure Modeler, Modeler's Resource, and Cinemagic magazines.

He lives in New York City.
