Mason used to be the magical version of a cop, but he's taken on a simpler life, making his living with his guitar. His best friend is his dog, or rather, the Ifrit who has the form of a dog, Lou. Lou keeps Mason safe, but when Lou vanishes, Mason has to find out who his true friends are and try to get his best one back before a plot that can seriously shift the balance towards evil can come to fruition. Dog lovers don't get many fantasy books geared to them, so finding one is a pleasure. Though Lou is not talkative, like Sparkle Stardust or Felabba, he's truly a wizard and reader's best friend. Fans of Harry Dresden will enjoy the tone this story sets. |
