For nine centuries, Keenan has sought his soul mate, his Summer Queen, yet every mortal girl he thought her to be ran away or, if she dared the test to prove her rightful place, succumbed to a terrible fate. When all hope seems lost and he begins to fear that his mother, the Winter Queen, has won in denying him love and in hanging onto her cursed power, he finds Aislinn, a girl who has obeyed three rules her entire life, rules that warn her away from all Fey folk. Yet, though she wants only to be a normal teen-aged, high school girl and have a plain old boyfriend, she finds herself pursued by the king of the Fairies, and it's becoming harder and harder to run away. Torn between two worlds, two loves, the past, and the future, Aislinn finds herself forced to make a choice that could save or damn them all.

This is a book for anyone who enjoys a compelling tale. Elements of Tam Lin, Labyrinth (the David Bowie one, not Pan's), Joan D Vinge's Snow Queen, and classic fairy tales in general (not the Disney versions), are woven into a sweeping, micro-epic that touches the heart and sweeps you into a magnificent world all at once. This seems like only the beginning, but if it is the full story, you will still be satisfied.
