The war with chaos was over – they had won. But it was a pretty weak victory as they had lost their homeworld and had been exiled to Earth. So when Dee started to realise that she may actually have been the cause of their problems it became clear that they were going to have to return to their decimated homeland to find out the truth.

But Surya had been waiting for an excuse to have another go at the team and this gave her just the opportunity she had been waiting for. Soon she would know if they could go back to Olympus again.

This book is the sequel to The Kronos Factor and follows the exploits of a group of "gods" as they struggle for supremacy and try to realise their ultimate desire – to go home.

Initially the story follows the experiences of the gods as they try to work out how and if they can return to Olympus and find out the truth about the earlier conflict but an extra layer is added to the story when they come across a young girl who seems to be another victim of Surya but could just as easily have been planted there to infiltrate the group and pass information back to Surya.

This was a very unusual story that hooked me from the very first page and continued to keep my interest right to the end. The writers have created a book that tells the story of a battle but in a very understated manner – not resorting to anything obvious just to keep your attention. And it is this subtlety of style that I enjoyed most of all.

If you want to try a truly original book with a fluid storyline that wraps its literary arms around you and refuses to let go then this is the one for you. Go on, give it a go. I can guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Synopsis
Nothing much had happened in the five years since the war with Chaos. They had won, just, but their homeworld had been the price - placed into stasis to prevent any repetition.

Self-exiled to Earth, only a few of the survivors could now make the transformation back into the physical world and that was only to support Arielle with her annual Spring thing - it kept the place ticking over nicely, but was not essential.

This was no future for any of them and underneath they all knew it. They were merely in their own form of stasis.

Until, Dee dropped her bombshell. For some time she'd had that awful feeling that a tap had been left running back home. She could not shake it from her mind. Something had gone very wrong and the horror was that she herself had set this in motion. Playing it over and over was not the answer; she had to find out for sure.

Surya agreed, sanctioning Ion, Cappella and Dee to make a simple there and back, fact finder trip. But it was not going to be quite that simple. Surya had been waiting for any excuse to act. She gave Cappella a single momentous thought which would send her on a mission of her own. It was a long shot, but they both wanted to know something else; if it might just be possible for them to go home, to make a return to Olympus.

The sequel to 'The Kronos Factor'.
