An antiques dealer is mysteriously given an old, carved chair. Following this, wierd and tragic events
befall his family, all seeming to emanate from their gift.
Plot
Straightforward from a good beginning through a steady well paced middle to a safe conclusion. It is quite short
and very easy to read, having no rally gruesome or traumatic events as some of this author's other books have.
Charactrs
Very ordinary, sensible characters - easy to ally with. The 'hero' is not too brave which helps the reader empathise,
but the "character" of the chair can is a little predictable, and late in the book there is the introduction of a
rather silly 'sacred' personality.
General
An easy to read bedside table book. Good prose, sensible characters but with a setting edging towards bland
and a lack of real suspense or surprise it is not going to set anyone's toes curling. An okay read.
