Lord Erek, nephew of the Duchess of Tarogeen, is training to become an Adept - a magician. So far, it has not been easy. After a number of tutors have been dismissed he now trains with Magister Andru, but with limited success. Mind you magic is not considered a worthy pursuit for members of such a highborn clan. So When Magister Andru suggests that Erek should continue his studies at the Academy of Malmillard, Erek's aunt is opposed to the idea. As the story progresses it seems that her objections are based on more than just social status...

Journey to Malmillard is a classic fantasy tale. A young boy, accompanied by a 'band of friends', escapes his rigid upbringing and sets out to follow his true calling. The characters are well written and the story is set at an ideal pace.

It is not a totally original concept but it is so beautifully written I would recommend it to any fan of the genre. If this is book one, I look forward to reading the next
