Whilst organising a rebellion against the Alliance, Morgan is captured by the Jotnar and beaten unconscious. When he awakes he finds he has been taken to a slave planet where he is to be tortured in an attempt to make him reveal details of the rebels plans. Ariana Zoltan is the Commander of the slave world. However, unlike her predecessors, she is entirely opposed to slavery. When she finds Morgan being tortured she finds herself compelled to buy him in order to save his life. Soon she finds herself telepathically linked to the mysterious prisoner and realises that she is falling in love with him. How can she protect Morgan from the attentions of the Jotnar? To all intents and purposes this is a love story set in a prison camp. But, to give it such a simple label is to do it a major disservice. There is so much more to the tale than a simple "girl meets boy" plot. There are a number of different themes running throughout the book. Yes, there is a charming love story but there is also a rebellion, the freeing of a camp full of slaves, the downfall of an evil vicious officer and more. This is a true "feel-good" book. After finishing it I was left with a wonderful warm and fluffy feeling and a contented smile. OK, so I am an old softie at heart but I loved this – well, a girl needs a bit of romance now and again, doesn’t she? One word of caution, this is most definitely an adult tale. There are scenes of a fairly graphic sexual nature as well as descriptions of torture. Nothing too excessive but it is worth bearing this in mind if the book is to be given to a younger reader. A gloriously satisfying read! |
