An especially blood spree of murders by werewolf has New York gripped in fear, and the prime suspect is Pierre de Montfort, a charming, viscious, recently outed lycanthrope. Paul Dujardin revealed his identity to the world in order to pull him into the open so his partner, Catherine Marsais, can fulfill her goal of ending the Montfort werewolf line. Unfortunately, his actions have placed the woman he loves, Julie Buchanan, in danger. Equally disturbing in a different way is the fact that Catherine and Paul's boss wants Pierre alive. Why? And, what is Ian Morgan's role in all this? The handsome vampire has very personal reasons for wanting Pierre stopped, and he wants to get more personal with Catherine. Though more grim in tone than your average paranormal romance, Devour isn't dark enough to qualify as out and out horror. You should be aware that some scenes do get grisly. A guy could probably feel comfortable reading this book, because despite the fact that there are two romances, neither overwhelms the action plot. Ms. Morel's story should have a broad range of appeal, with elements of urban fantasy, horror, and romance all skillfully intertwined. |
