Jessica was just an ordinary girl until the day she was stabbed in the back, literally. If things had been going normally, she would have seen the light and gone to Heaven, but no such luck. She finds herself standing at the crime scene, desperate to be noticed, and someone does see her. Deacon Chance is a cop on leave whose life changed when he gained the ability to see spirits. Now, one has invaded his life, and he is okay with that. What he is not okay with is the fact that Jessica is still not safe, even if she is dead. She is the focus of a war between Fallen and Holy angels and the danger just keeps getting thicker as the devil tries to stop a prophecy handed down since Eden from coming true. There is a perfect balance of humor, romance, and chilling action in this fast-paced tale. I loved it all, from Jessica's sarcastic observations, to the talking cat, the the guest appearance by the Archangel Gabriel. The ghost/human soulmates angle was utterly charming and very well explained. I can see a possible series here, and just hope that is not mere wishful thinking. Three cheers to Ms. Morgan. |
