Book 6 of this remarkable series continues to follow the second generation of leaders of the Gothman and Runner Nations but also dives much further into the intense and unusual relationship between Andru, the Gothman Leader and his twin, Ana, who leads the Runners. It also develops much further the relationship between Meah and Gilroy and all the subsequent emotions and situations they encounter as couples, as leaders, and as a group.

Though Meah and Gilroy's loyalty never waiver's they both know that as second in command to both Gothman and Runner leaders, they command considerable power, but their relationship to each other is also becoming more intense and their struggle to make Andru see that change will be necessary is center to this novel.

With new challenges to both leaderships from exterior sources, Andru and Ana must come to terms with their own unusual relationship and their need of each other, as well as their need of the command capabilities of both Meah and Gilroy in their complicated relationship.

I find this series captivating for the evolution of the characters and their abilities to embrace change even if it's not within the generally accepted norms. The characters remain true to their individual personalities while fighting to remain a cohesive group dedicated to the wellbeing, protection and growth of their races.

Ms O'Clare has managed to take a pair of unusual relationships and turn them into a gripping alternative to the accepted boundaries of romantic fiction. She is a powerful writer with an agile mind and quick wit and has created a wonderful world peopled with interesting and challenging characters. Definitely an interesting and challenging series filled with unexpected and not always easy choices. I can't wait to see where the next volume takes us.

Note: The story contains scenes of, and references to, incest

Synopsis
The Gothman and Runners are under threat, and the two strongest nations on Nuworld are about to be ripped asunder.

Thievery plagues the Runner clans. With no clues, and landlinks, as well as women, continually disappearing, frustration escalates between Lord Andru and Lady Meah. Solving these crimes is only part of what disturbs the Lord of Gothman and his claim.

Lord Andru's love for his sister Ana grows, becoming more obvious, not only to Meah, but to the community around them. Ana's claim, Lord Gilroy, far from being distraught, is distracted by his growing attraction for Meah.

Two couples are close to being torn apart by love for the wrong woman. The thieves are hitting closer to home. Two nations will fall. Two relationships destroyed.

In a combustive climate of sexual and emotional tension, Andru and Ana find the greatest challenges to their roles as rulers of the Gothman and Runners comes from within. Surrendering to their overwhelming need to be with each other comes at a high cost they both must pay.

The end of everything cherished and dear is looming. Until they all learn that blood is thicker than water.
