The Olympian pantheon has survived, if only just barely, through to the present day. However, things just are not what they once were, and instead of ruling, they are employed as various things, such as psychic, phone sex operator, dog walker, and even preacher. Their personalities have not changed at all and though weaker, they can still work havoc on mortals. After Apollo turns a girl into a tree, his sister exacts an oath from him to not harm mortals for a short time. She also gets Eros to help her create a situation to torture him with unrequited love, thus setting causing a young woman's death and possibly ending the world. Life can be complicated, no matter how powerful you are. Simply put, if you want some fun, read this book. Particularly enjoyable was seeing a Greek god as a devout priest whose greatest desire was to meet Christ. Filled with whimsy and humor, you are assured a dozen smiles if you indulge in this story. What a great debut! |
