Dr. Bethany Stavinoski's groundbreaking work in biochemistry has brought her much attention, but not all of it is welcome, especially that of the vampires. When she becomes a target of the undead who want her to replicate the serum that transformed them into either monsters or superhumans, depending on your point of view, it becomes the mission in Dirk Adams' life to protect the lovely scientist. Dirk himself is a changeling, a half vampire. Since being transformed, he and his best friends have tried to stop the evil vampires, and perhaps regain their full humanity. However, Bethany's appeal is greater than her mind for Dirk. The attraction between them is off limits, she's engaged to another man, and Dirk is after all, a changeling, but it's too late. They've both been seduced by the night. Ms. Popp's version of vampirism is intriguingly different, using science, not magic, to explain it. Combined with more traditional romantic elements, this reinvention makes a story that will fly by quickly, holding your interest the entire way. |
