If I Should Fall From Grace With God One day, whilst eating lunch in a local shopping mall, Scott was approached by an attractive young woman who introduced herself as Sierra Tampico. During their conversation Scott discovered that she was a member of an alternative church. As Sierra left she handed Scott a business card telling him to call when he felt he was weakest. When Scott returned home he found the body of his grandmother. Murdered.
Polyethylene However, when the day of release came, James discovered that the record company had withdrawn all the CDs from sale due to a rumoured hidden track left by Abedan. Desperate to own a copy of the album, James was prepared to go to any lengths to get it... These two horror novellas/short stories are very different. "Grace with God" is the story of a young man hitting rock bottom and looking for salvation in the arms of an alternate religion. Polyethylene shows the lengths to which a truly obsessive fan will go. Purfield has a very distinctive writing style that cannot be easily pigeonholed. It would be simple to call his style "Alternative" but this does not do it justice. I find it refreshingly different. Having read his previous novel, Dirty Boots, as well as these two stories I found that he was able to adapt his writing to comfortably fit both formats. Easy to read and thoroughly enjoyable. |
