Lucifer has nearly broken Dante Valentine, but she lives still, and you know what they say, a wounded animal is twice as dangerous. In Dante's case, that is even more true, for she is not an animal, but neither is she human. Lucifer himself has helped shape her into something other, and now, in a war that will change things on a cosmic level, Dante and her miscellaneous allies, some of whom she is not sure she can trust, will battle the forces of Hell. The bleak, non-Christian world in which Dante lives strikes me as utterly depressing. Yet, if you are a fan of post apocalyptic stories or something that has the stark feeling of the Matrix trilogy, particularly the final two films, you will enjoy this. Dante is a strong heroine, but rather inconsistent in her strengths. However, it is laudable to limit a series such as this, rather than keep it going on until you are begging for the author to finish it already. This one ends on a slightly more positive note, and I am sure her legion of fans will wish it went on longer. |
