Ann K. Schwader Information and Links
Ann K. Schwader has been a dark presence in the small press and professional genre
press since the mid 1980s. A recipient of the Academy of American Poets Award at
the University of Wyoming in 1984, Ms. Schwader is also a multiple Rhysling
Award (Science Fiction Poetry Association) nominee.
Her poetry and fiction have appeared in Chaosium's The Nyarlathotep
Cycle, The Innsmouth Cycle and Tales Out of Innsmouth, and have
received several Honorable Mentions in Year's Best Fantasy & Horror.
Ms. Schwader is a regular contributor to Weird Tales, the Lovecraftian
favorite Crypt of Cthulhu, and many other publications, including
Dreams of Decadence, Tales of the Unanticipated, and
Talebones. 'The Darker Side', a collection of short stories edited
by John Pelan (a 2001 release from Penguin/ROC) will also include fiction by Ms.
Schwader.
'The Worms Remember' will immerse the reader in Ms. Schwader's
darkly fanciful vision from the opening line of the title poem to the final
period at the close of the book. Her distinctive storytelling style overlays
Lovecraft's classic images with the stuff of myth and legend. Though 'The Worms Remember'
is Ms. Schwader's first solo collection, she was one of three poets
anthologized in 'The Weird Sonneteers' (Anamnesis Press, 2000) -- where her
"Pages from a Paperback Imagination" prove her to be a master of the sonnet
form. It is a talent which lends itself well to her diverse themes of horror and
dark fantasy.
She lives and writes in Westminster, Colorado with her husband and one
Pembroke Welsh Corgi.
