Driving back from an abortive evening out with his fiancee Roxanne, Bruce Vincent manages to crash their car. Struggling through the pouring rain they come across a small cottage where they hope to be able to use the telephone to call for help. Belatha Magister, the owner of the cottage, takes an instant shine to Bruce and proceeds to do everything within her power to take him away from Roxanne. At the same time Roxanne starts to come down with a rather virulent case of the flu. Mathilda the ghost quickly diagnoses Roxanne's condition as more than a simple cold – she has been hexed by Belatha in a further attempt to separate her from Bruce. However Belatha's intentions are far from just romantic. She has a far more nefarious plan for him. Will Roxanne, with the help of her friends, manage to rescue Bruce from his grizzly fate or is this it for Bruce Vincent? Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered is the latest in the stories of Bruce and Roxanne and their ill-fated love affair. Yet again, Bruce has stumbled blindly into danger and it is down to Roxanne and the others to save him. Bruce Vincent has to be one of the most infuriating characters I have ever read about. He seems oblivious to practically everything including the vital role that Roxanne plays in his life. Roxanne is equally frustrating. I get the urge to grab hold of her, give her a good shaking and tell her to find herself a man who actually appreciates her! Now, don't get me wrong, I love these stories. Each time a new one arrives I can't wait to see what kind of mess Bruce can get himself in to. Each time Rie Sheridan writes a Bruce and Roxanne story she manages to find an even more bizarre situation for the unfortunate couple. Will Bruce and Roxanne ever make it down the aisle for their Halloween wedding? Only time will tell. A superb bit of escapism. |
