'The Mist of Doom' is a classic story of good versus evil. David, a psychic, finds that his recent vivid dreams are actually travels on the astral plane. Here he meets Ilondriel, a member of the Council of Senwen ("a place from whence many of mankind's myths and legends originate") who tells David that he is a Knight-Errant chosen to warn a woman that she is under threat from an evil sorcerer, Jelfrion. With the help of an old friend, Roland, David finds the woman and they all astral travel to Senwen in order to defeat Jelfrion.

In order to differentiate between the "Earth" people and those of Senwen, Linda Shillabeer makes the Senwen people speak in a medieval style which works well for the most part. With one notable exception – Jelfrion. Unfortunately I found the combination of medieval English and reversed sentence structure a little irritating. Jelfrion did sound a little like Yoda's evil twin!

Don't get me wrong, the story concept is excellent and well paced. The characters are endearing and the overall structure makes for a very readable book.
