This is superb! I thought about giving it a ten. Amazing writing!

The story is told as a number of folk tales to the Dog Society that runs the Earth with help of robots, complete with commentary on the tales from various dog philosophers. The seven tales themselves tell the story of how mankind develops with technological advances and leaves the Earth allowing the genetically enhanced dogs to become the dominant race.

The writing style of this book is quite wonderful, the characters involving and the story itself a joy to read. This has to be one of the finest examples of science fiction novels ever written. I know have to think on whether it is good enough to enter my personal top ten SF books.
