Plot:
Well constructed and excellently researched, flowing freely and maintaining full interest. The plot
has several strands in different styles, this changing the style is handled well, especially the 'Victorian Prose' within the diary chapters.
Characters:
Totally believable, full of life, varied and all interspersed with touches of humour and sarchasm. The 'beasts'
are not so horrific as to not seem believable and even more interesting with the Hawaiian myths and legends incorporated.
General:
Very meaty and descriptive. A rivetting book well written in good English. A book not to be put down until finished.
