To fit in better with human society, vampires have begun drinking their blood from the glass and or using synthetic blood invented by Roman Dragonesti. Unfortunately, Roman discovers the use it or lose it principle works when he gives a blood filled dummy a bite, for testing purposes, and his fang gets stuck in it. To avoid going through eternity referred to as Lefty the One Fanged Vamp, he has to find a dentist before his healing ability makes a repair impossible. The only late night dentist he can find has as many secrets as he, and a fear of blood. Shanna Whelan is in the Witness Protection program, and does not believe in vampires. Roman's arrival happens just as the thugs find her again, so he does the noble and practical thing and takes Shanna into his protection. At first, she can't believe the world she's walked into, but soon, romance begins to override her fears, though the two impulses being at war will cause more than one complication. Vampire politics can get ugly. If Shanna thought the plain human mafia was trouble, she's about to find out they are nothing compared to the vampire one. With so much going on, it's hard to sum up a book like this. It's not as slapstick as the title might lead one to believe. There's lots of action as well as humor and romance. Some of the sensuality is overdone, but can be lifted from the reading without detracting from the plot. Solid secondary charcters make this an easy read, making you care about what happens to them. |
