Having been away for a while, Shirley McClintock returns home to a rather unpleasant surprise. Someone has bought a neighbouring ranch and seems to be intent on destroying the natural habitat and disturbing the surrounding ranchers with the continual noise of heavy machinery.

Whilst touring the boundaries of her property (to make sue that none of the fences have been destroyed), Shirley comes across the body of her neighbour. Needless to say she becomes the prime suspect for his murder. Shirley is forced to investigate the crime in order to prove her own innocence.

Can Shirley discover the true identity of the murderer before she is charged with the crime? Will the victim's son carry on where his father left off and destroy life in the wetlands forever? Only time will tell.

Shirley McClintock must be one of the most unfortunate people around! As some people consider themselves a "Bum Magnet", Shirley is most definitely a Corpse Magnet! It seems that if there is a body out there she will find it! Still, I suppose that there wouldn't be a book without this tendency!

As far as murder mysteries are concerned the Shirley McClintock Mysteries are among the very best. The main character is an abrasive woman who doesn't suffer fools gladly but would never let her friends and family down. The stories are all beautifully written and a pleasure to read. Although I am predominantly a fantasy and horror reader I do like a good mystery story now and again. Having read 2 of the McClintock stories I am now looking out for more of them!

A very refreshing read!
