Lord Jackson Wulf believes that if he slays Lucinda, he can free himself and his brothers from the curse that makes them take on the form for which they are named. He was not prepared to find Lucinda on the verge of giving birth to an innocent child, and, taken aback, he spares the life of the white witch and her child.

When next he sees her, Lucinda has successfully pulled off a masquerade of passing herself off as his wife, gaining entry and establishing herself and the baby in his home. Wulf agrees to continue the charade, even to marry her and claim the child, if she will work to break the curse. Lucinda agrees, and before too long, they are both wishing that their relationship was more than business. However, loss of control, daring to love, would mean Wulf would lose himself in the beast.

This is a very different spin on what is becoming the traditional werewolf story. Though the magical element in rather miniscule in the overall story, it is a powerful element, used appropriately to add dimension to the romance.
