This is the second in the Hunter Series by Shiloh Walker. In a world where vampires, shapeshifters and witches all co-exist with normal humans, there needs to be a governing body whose efforts allow those gifted with paranormal powers to live in peace. When the Council's laws are broken, the Hunters are the ones tasked with dealing with the Rogue shifters, witches and vamps, who have embraced the darker sides of their natures and as hunters, they often hunt down those humans who prey on the weak and defenseless. The Hunter Series follows their exploits, lives and loves. Eli is a Master Vampire, several hundred years old and a powerful, respected Hunter in his own right. He shares a particular aversion to those who abuse children and often hunts them down in his duties as Hunter, dispenser of justice for the Council. Five years ago, he arrived too late to stop a man whose intentions it was to brutally murder and rape his wife and child. Eli able to save the young girl from her father's horrific intentions, but not her mother. Someone is stalking Eli, the Master Vampire, powerful Hunter and best friend of Declan and Tori (From the first book) When the stalker is successful in attacking and wounding him, his mental anguish calls Declan and Tori to his side, but even with Tori's blood and its amazing healing abilities he is still dying and the only thing that will reverse the spell laden attack is the blood of his attacker. Unable to stay away, Sarel is drawn to Eli's compound but is surprised to see that he has not yet died. As she watches, Declan tracks and captures her and with the help of Kelsey, a witch/healer living at Eli's compound, Sarel is convinced that her vengeance against Eli was unjustified. Sarel had been under the false impression that Eli had been the one who killed her mother, father and sister, not her sister's savior and protector for the five years since the deaths. Eli knows that Sarel is special, that her wild magic is untrained and a danger to herself and those around her, but the attraction he feels for her is almost overwhelming and its only his deep honour that compels him to send her away to be trained at Excelsior the school the Council set up to train those with paranormal powers. Upon completion of her training at Excelsior, Sarel is sent back to Eli for field training. Will Eli's attraction still be as intense as it was originally? Will Sarel be able to convince not only Eli, but those who respect and love him, that she is no longer any danger to him? Will she be able to control the desire raging through her when she thinks of Eli? This story is filled with all the passion and sensuality that is patent throughout the Hunter Series. This is a sizzling installment in a wonderfully erotic series, well worth your time and money to read. |
